California Tsunami Cleanup Project

California is launching a project to deal with incoming debris from the March 2011 Japan tsunami.

In the plan, volunteers will search beach areas for possible debris.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration recently received a 5 million dollar donation from Japan to track and remove tsunami debris.

At this point, no debris has been found in California, however two docks and various other articles have been found in the Pacific Northwest and Hawaii.

Officials estimate around 5 million tons of debris was dumped into the Pacific ocean.
