Cave Junction fire threatens homes

Cave Junction, Ore.– The Oregon Department of Forestry is investigating the cause of a blaze that threatened close to 10 homes Friday evening.

The fire that started on a grass field on West Side Road jumped the street and burned nearby neighbor Dave Lewis’ property. Illinois Valley Fire District, ODF, Rural Metro, Grants Pass Fire, and The U.S. Forest Service helped out in mopping up the blaze that was fueled by wind.

Fire crews were protecting all the homes threatened and nobody was hurt.

IVFD said the fire burned five acres.
