Dangerous escalation

(NBC News) President Obama on Monday criticized Russia for moving troops to the Crimea region and said the country is on the “wrong side of history” with its actions in Ukraine.

“I think the world is largely united in recognizing that the steps Russia has taken are a violation of Ukraine sovereignty, Ukraine’s territorial integrity, that they’re a violation of international law,” Mr. Obama said.

The president made the remarks just before a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the Oval Office.

President Obama said Russia’s actions violate international law and that the U.S. is considering economic and diplmatic actions that would isolate the country.
