Eagle Point votes to temporarily ban dispensaries

Eagle Point, Ore. — The Eagle Point City Council voted tonight to enact a ban, starting right now, outlawing medical marijuana dispensaries within city limits.

The ban will last through May 2015 but the mayor says the council can vote at any time to end the ban “It just gives us some breathing room and frankly we’re looking for the legislature in Salem to give us a little more help but they chose to kick the can down the road. So we’ve had to go with this moratorium for now and we’re going to take a good look at it and give it a fair shake” said Mayor Russell.

The state recently voted to allow cities and counties to ban dispensaries through May 2015.

Dispensaries became legal in Oregon March third.
