JaCo Animal Services reminds everyone their dogs must be licensed

Phoenix, Ore. — Jackson County Animal Control is on a mission to make sure every dog is licensed and they’re seeing an up tick in the number of licenses they’ve issued.

It’s a result of a strategy to educate people about the county and state requirement to get a license.

One of the big benefits: no fees to pick up your pet if it somehow ends up at the shelter. “If it comes in here for whatever reason and it’s not licensed, the fees are going to start at $183, so it’s a significant benefit” said Barbara Talbert, Manager of Jackson County Animal Services.

Licenses range from between $20 to $30 depending on whether or not the dog has been fixed.

The fees go back into maintaining the shelter and animal control.
