Free car in raffle

Medford, Ore.– Southern Oregon Veterans Benefits’ teamed up with Sportsman’s Warehouse to sell raffle tickets for a free car.

Becky Tappan, who’s husband was in the Marine Corps and passed away, was in desperate need of a vehicle when she picked up a raffle ticket at the store. She says she couldn’t believe she had won when she got the news and was still in shock when she picked up her new car.

“The one prize was the car and I said oh boy that would be great if I won because mines kind of on its last leg!” Tappan said. ” Anyways, they gave me a phone call and here we go, I won!”

Southern Oregon Veteran Benefits’ helps veterans and their families who are in need of assistance, whether it be education, tools or in this case, transportation.

Tappan is the first recipient of a free car from the group, it’s the first time a car like this has ever been donated.
