Governor signs New Motor Voter bill into law

Salem, Ore. — It’s official, Oregon’s New Motor Voter bill is now law.

Governor Kate Brown signed it on Monday.

The New Motor Voter bill removes barriers to voter registration and makes it easier for eligible Oregonians to receive a ballot.

“When someone moves to Oregon, why should they have to fill out multiple forms for multiple agencies They should be able to complete one form, one time,” said Governor Brown.

Now the Department of Transportation can provide the Secretary of State with electronic records.

Governor Brown said the bill will empower more Oregonians to exercise their right to vote.

Brown worked on the legislation when she served as Secretary of State.
