Gunman targets ambulances

Mobile County, Ala. — (WPMI) Alabama’s Mobile County Sheriff’s Office is investigating two separate reports of shots fired at ambulances this week.

The latest incident happened Wednesday afternoon. Joshua Baxter with Newman Emergency Medical Service was in the back with a patient around 2:30 p.m. when he heard the bullet hit the window. He remained calm and helped the patient before calling 911.

“My partner was the drive,r but I was in the back taking care of a patient,” Baxter said, “I was more surprised than anything else, took me a second to realize what just happened.”

A similar incident was reported Saturday night around 11:00 p.m. at the Mobile EMS substation in Citronelle. Shots were fired at the building there, striking an ambulance parked outside.
