Haggen takes over Grants Pass Albertsons

Grants Pass, Ore. — Big changes for grocery shoppers in the Rogue Valley as two Albertsons get a makeover by new owner Haggen.

The Washington based companyis converting the stores on NE Beacon Drive and Allen Creek Road in Grants Pass.

“Haggen built it’s business on sourcing locally, it’s been around for 81 years and the first stores were reflections of the community’s around them,” Deborah Pleva, Haggen’s Communications Director, said.

Pleva said that tradition will continue with the new stores. The clock is ticking as they only have 36 hours to convert each store, but Pleva says when the conversion wraps up shoppers can expect a bigger produce section with more fruits and vegetables grown in the Rogue Valley.

Pleva said the deli, chef’s kitchen, and bakery will also offer more homemade and locally sourced products.

“This is a Pacific Northwest company so when you shop at Haggen you’re supporting a local company who wants to also support and strengthen the community around it,” Pleva said.

Haggen on NE Beacon Drive will open Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. They’ll start converting the Albertson’s on Allen Creek Road Tuesday, it will reopen Thursday.
