Updated (9/2 4pm)The Happy Camp Complex fire in Siskiyou County has grown to more than 63,000 acres and remains 15% contained. Travel restrictions are in place to keep drivers safe.
You should expect delays on Highway 96 between Scott River Road and Walker Creek Bridge. Pilot cars will now assist drivers through the area as firefighters and equipment move along the road.
All evacuation orders remain unchanged. Crews hope to have the fire contained by September 8th.
Siskiyou County, Calif. — The Happy Camp Complex fire burning near the community of Happy Camp has now grown to 57,722 acres. Because of the growth, the containment has dropped to just 15%.
The fire is currently threatening between 200-250 homes. The Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office issued a mandatory evacuation order for the following areas:
-Scott River Road from Bridge Flat to the intersection of Hwy. 96.
-All areas south of Hwy. 96 between Scott River Road and Grider Creek.
-All areas south of Hwy. 96 from Seiad Valley down river to Cade Summit.
The following areas are under a advisory (or be prepared to leave) evacuation advisory.
– All areas north of Hwy. 96 between Scott River Road and Grider Creek.
There will be community meetings tonight, August 30, at 7 p.m. One will be in Happy Camp at the Karuk Tribe Senior Nutrition Center at 7:00 p.m. and one at the Seiad Fire Station at 6:00 p.m. Team members and Klamath National Forest representatives will present information and answer questions about the Happy Camp Complex fires.
