Hundreds gather for procession for fall deputy Jack Hopkins

new-procession-picYreka, Calif. — Hundreds of people gathered across Northern California on Saturday, to pay their respects to deputy Jack Hopkins, 31, who was killed in the line of duty earlier this week.

The procession started in Alturas and traveled to Redding. On Saturday morning, it continued to Yreka.

Deputy Hopkins was shot and killed while responding to a domestic disturbance call on Wednesday. When he arrived, the Modoc County Sheriff’s Office says Jack Briener opened fire on him.

Hopkins is the fourth California officer killed in just two weeks. He is survived by a large family.
