JoCo Commissioner candidate forum

Grants Pass, Ore. — Nine Josephine County Commissioner candidates are battling for one spot.

Wednesday night the race against incumbent Simon Hare heated up at a second forum hosted by The Chamber of Commerce and The Daily Courier.

Over 100 concerned Josephine County residents wanted to know why each candidate deserves their vote.

“I want to see how they react and handle themselves,” said Johnny Knight from Merlin.

During the two hour forum one of the hottest topics came up, measure 17-59. It would fund juvenile justice and the jail. It’s a levy that’s failed the last seven times it’s hit the ballot.

“You could say that you’re going to give money to this or that but if its not there and well defined I dont trust them,” said Knight.

With nine options for commissioner one thing is certain, voters in Josephine County want to choose a leader they can trust.

Voters should start seeing ballots in the mail on Saturday.
