San Diego, Ca.– A hammerhead shark was spotted in the waters off La Jolla Shores in southern California. The event prompted lifeguards to quickly close waters in the area.
Akayaker reported seeing the creature Sunday. Another hammerhead shark was reported just one day before but it is unclear if it is the same shark.
The kayakers were able to capture video as the shark circled them. Officials watched the footage and believe the shark wasdemonstratingaggressivebehavior.
Visitors were asked to get safely to shoreimmediatelyuntil further investigation.
