It’s a first for South Medford High School.
The Mobile Health Center is a doctor’s office…on wheels.
La Clinica says it’s expanding its service because high school students are in need of healthcare.
“The schools have asked us to come. There are students who don’t have good access to healthcare for various reasons. By having a school based health center on site, students can come to us when they’re in school,” said Karen deSousa, the clinical lead nurse for La Clinica Mobile.
Students who are 15 or older can sign their own consent forms. However, parents must sign for kids who are younger.
The mobile clinic will also be at North Medford High for the first time on Friday.
The clinic’s regular schedule from 8:30-11:30am at each site is as follows:
Mondays: South Medford High School
Tuesdays: Roosevelt Elementary School
Wednesdays: Wilson Elementary School
Thursdays: Phoenix High School
Friday: North Medford High School
Students may pick up consent forms at the office. The mobile clinic will bill insurance if it’s available. If not, most students will have to pay on a sliding scale depending on their, or their parent’s income. With that said, according to La Clinica officials, if someone needs treatment, they will not be turned away.
