Medford, Ore. — One former Clackamas County Sheriff’s lieutenant is in the Rogue Valley Tuesday night supporting Measure 91.

Paul Steigleder says that he and a group called “Law Enforcement Against Prohibition” support the legalization of marijuana. He says Measure 91 will take away the power of the illegal marijuana market from the cartels and mean the disappearance of illegal grows in Oregon.

He says the measure will provide funds for law enforcement, free them up to investigate more serious crimes and crack down on impaired drivers.

Meanwhile the Oregon State’s Sheriff’s Association opposes Measure 91. The “No on 91 Campaign” argues it will not be properly regulated and teen usage will increase.
