Liquor Stores Soon Might Not be the Only Place to buy Hard Alcohol

For eighty years Oregon’s Liquor Control Commission had banned the sale of liquor in grocery stores, but that could be changing.

The OLCC will be presenting a proposal to the legislature next year that would allow grocery stores up to 10-thousand square feet to sell liquor. Some people say they don’t think it’s a good idea.

“I think you might have better control over it if the only thing you’re selling in the store is liquor, then you can monitor it better that way. It might be less easy to control in a grocery store.”

“They can get beer and wine in there, they don’t need nothing more as far as I’m concerned.”

Nothing is set in stone. The OLCC says they will have a better idea about this proposal by December.
