Price of Stamps to Increase One Cent

If you’re an avid stamp user, you’re going to be seeing an increase in stamp prices starting January 26th.

The United States Postal Service will be charging 47 cents instead of 46 cents for first class mail stamps. Residents in Ashland say they don’t mind the hike.

“The Post Office serves a valuable function, we need to keep it and I believe part of it is being subsidized by the government. So a couple cents, I’m perfectly okay with it.”

“I think the one cent increase is alright, but in ten years the Post Office will be gone.”

The increase comes from a 5 billion dollar loss the Post Office has seen this year.

The extra cent could total an extra 2 billion dollars for the mail service.
