Man pleads guilty to starting Boles Fire

Weed, Ca –

25 year old Ronald Beau Marshall has pleaded guilty to starting the Boles Fire in Weed, California. The devastating fire flared up on September 15th of last year, burning 157 structures, 143 of those homes.

District Attorney Mark Andrus says the evidence indicates Marshall lit a warming fire on the southside of Schoolhouse Hill. Marshall was reckless with his care of the fire and after he left the area, it flared up, tearing through town.

Marshall’s plea means he could serve up to 6 years in prison and will also be responsible for paying for the damage. That restitution will likely be well into the millions, involving the entire amount of loss suffered due to the Boles Fire.

Marshall’s sentencing is scheduled for July 28th.
