Medford man arrested for attempted murder after hitting woman with brick, began strangling her

Medford, Ore. –A 65-year-old man is behind bars after allegedly hitting a woman with a brick.

Police say James Charles Lowman struck an 85 year-old-woman with a brick while she was gardening outside a Medford adult foster care facility on Wednesday afternoon.

Police say the suspect then began strangling her when a 25-year-old female, who happened to be driving by, stopped and got out of her car.

The elderly woman sustained serious facial injuries and was transported to the Rogue Regional Medical Center.

Lowman has been charged with attempted murder, assault in the second degree and strangulation.
