Medford, Ore. – A medford woman celebrated a very special birthday today. Birdie Johnson turns 109 years old tomorrow. Friends and family members came out to celebrate with her in Medford today. Birdie is in good health, she takes walks, loves to play scrabble and still has quite the sense of humor.
When asked about how she felt, Birdie responded jokingly, stating she felt 108, which in turn felt like being 107.
Birdie and her family moved to Oregon from South Dakota in 1937. All four of her kids are still living, the oldest is 87. She also has 13 grand kids, 26 great grand kids, and 11 great-great grand kids. She says there is no secret to a long life and that the only reason she’s lived this long is because the lord wanted her to.
