A physician assistant in Klamath Falls has been reprimanded by the Oregon Medical Board…but clinic staff are standing behind that provider.
The stipulated order claims that physician assistant Arden Gage showed ‘unprofessional and dishonorable conduct’ with a female patient when Gage worked at the LaPine Community Health Center in 2011.
Specifically, sending text messages of a sexual nature to that female patient.
Gage now works at Klamath Open Door Family Practice.
“This happened well prior to his coming here.” Notes Klamath Open Door Family Practice CEO Debra Miesch. “At the time we did our due diligence, there was nothing on his record.”
Miesh adds that Gage did let staff know there was a pending situation…
“And that it involved some text messages, and that he himself had realized that he had overstepped a boundary, and had learned a good lesson – and that that wouldn’t be happening again.”
Miesh says there are enough safeguards in place to ensure patient safety…
“We have plenty of oversight between the physician who oversees our physician assistant, and our medical directors. We do routine reviews of records, and interactions – so, absolutely.”
Gage must pay a $2500 fine as part of his disciplinary action, and complete a course in professional boundaries.
Gage is one of 13 medical professionals who faced disciplinary action through the Oregon Medical Board over the past month.
