Josephine County Commissioners voted unanimously to form a permanent law-enforcement tax district. The tax district would come with a maximum rate of 1.85 per $1000 dollars of assessed property value.
Oregon law requires that commissioners set a tax rate and hold two public hearings before taking a proposed tax district to voters.
Commissioner Simon Hare says a serial tax deal would be more agreeable to county voters.
