Medical examiner gives graphic testimony in day four of Susan Monica trial

Medford, Ore. –The Jackson County medical examiner takes the stand as day four of the Susan Monica trial focuses on the gruesome crime scene today.

Monica is accused of killing two handy men on her Rogue River property and feeding them to her pigs. Again, we want to warn you: certain elements of this trial are graphic.

The medical examiner, one of several witnesses took the stand as the first week of the trial wraps up. All of them part of the initial investigation that led one detective to find human remains on the property. Some of the evidence was even too much for Susan Monica to watch.

Video taken on January 10th, 2014 by Jackson County Sheriff’s Captain Nathan Sickler, shows the day he searched Susan Monica’s property and found something terrifying, human remains.

“That’s possibly human,” said Captain Sickler while watching the video.

That human bone, one of Robert Haney’s legs. Haney’s one of the two handy men Susan Monica is accused of killing and feeding to her pigs at her Rogue River ranch. The discovery of Haney’s bone, the focal point of the early investigation which led investigators to find the second set of bones, those of Stephen Delicino.

“It’s not that I want to kill anyone,”said Monica in her confession video,”But, I get anxious if there’s someone in my way.”

But it was Eric Fox, the Deputy Medical Examiner, whose testimony shook the courtroom.

“I found his remains in a storage area,” said Fox.

Fox went over the horrific details of finding the rest of Haney’s bones near one of Monica’s pig pens.

Monica then got emotional watching the conversation about her pigs.

“There seemed to be a lack of her taking responsibility.” Said Fox

Fox testified that they were able to identify Haney through a finger. Delicino was ID’d by matching his bones with his brothers.

“Objection.” Said the prosecution

Defense attorney’s cross examined Sickler and Fox. But one day after Monica questioned the lead investigator, she was absent from the podium Friday.

Next week Haney’s son’s are scheduled to take the stand as well as a woman who used to live on Monica’s property. She did not show up Friday.
