More food stamp users could boost Oregon’s economy

Ore. — The Beaver State could be looking at a nearly half a billion dollar boost if everyone eligible for food stamps participated in the program.

According to a study by “Partners for a Hunger Free Oregon”

roughly 276-thousand Oregonians are eligible for SNAP but don’t participate.

It’s estimated that one in five Oregonians receives an average of $135-dollars a month in federal assistance through the

program.

According to the study that federal money brings a massive injection of cash into the state but often people don’t know they are eligible or don’t know how to apply.

If you believe you may be eligible for SNAP benefits, you can fill out an application online at apps.state.or.us/onlineApplication;
