Cupertino, Calif. — A six-year-old boy is in the hospital after he was attacked by a mountain lion Sunday while hiking.
The little boy was with his family near a Cupertino, California winery when the mountain lion struck him from behind.
Shawn Ardaiz saw injured boy and says, “The man came down out of the trail carrying his son and it looked like he had a laceration on the back of his neck and he was bleeding pretty heavily all over.”
Authorities have closed all hiking trails in the area while they search for the animal.
The boy was hospitalized with moderate injuries and is expected to survive.
