Mt. Ashland Ski Area hosting job fair Thursday

Ashland, Ore. —  It may be hard to believe but if the weather cooperates, opening day at Mt. Ashland is only a month away and the folks at Mt. Ashland Ski Area are busy preparing. They’ve been trimming the trails, and prepping the lifts but they still need some help and they’re looking to hire more than a hundred people this week.

“It’s not much like work when you love what you do and it’s a beautiful place to be,” General Manager, Hiram Towle says.

Snow is already on the ground, but there’s plenty to do before opening day. That means hiring about 130 people, to work everywhere from the lift to the lodge. General Manager Hiram Towle says no experience is necessary.

“We’re looking for great attitudes, people who like to help other people have a good time,” Towle says, “I mean we’re in the snow business, we’re in the fun business, so if you like to have a smile on your face and help other people smile too, that’s what we’re looking for.”

Their season typically runs 90 days, but last year they only hit 38, they’re hoping this year will be different, and mother nature will cooperate.

“This is the strongest El Nino that’s come through in decades and so we’re hopeful that it’s going to bring the moisture and that the temperatures will be there to meet that moisture and create great snowfall.”

If all goes well they hope to open December 12, 2015. For those interested in applying, the job fair will take place from 9 AM to 4 PM Thursday at the Mt. Ashland ski lodge. Click HERE to fill out an application ahead of time. All walk-in interviews will be conducted on a first come, first serve basis.
