Mystery Woman Identified

This story which looked bleak over the weekend, this morning had a successful ending. Police say the woman’s mother picked her up from Three Rivers Hospital after a harrowing weekend.

On Saturday night an unresponsive woman-non communicative and unidentified was found walking the streets of The City of Rogue River. After releasing her photo and receiving an immense outpouring from our Facebook community and viewers, she has now been identified. Grants Pass Detective Sgt. Dan Evans explains…

“Due to the circumstances and the fact that officers didnt know who she was if she’d walked away from either a treatment facility or in home care..there was a concern about identifying her.”

After the woman was taken into custody on a peace officer’s mental hold she was transported to the Three Rivers Medical Center where her momidentifiedand picked her up early this morning. Butthere’s no record of the mother reporting her missing.

“A friend of the mothers contacted her and said that her daughter was on TV and listed as being unable to be identified” says Detective Sgt. Evans.

He continued to say had they not posted the image of the woman they may not have been able to have the quick response that they did in identifying her.

“We have to care for somebody its part of our job description. we need to be able to have a duty to care for the public.”

To protect her privacy Detective Sgt. Evans could not disclose anymore information about the woman, but at least now we know she is with her mother.

This story presented an ethical dilemma because no one wanted to violate this woman’s privacy, but without putting her picture out there she might not have been identified and found.
