Naloxone used for the first time by MPD

Medford, Ore. — Medford Police have successfully saved a mans life using a medication that helps reverse opiate overdoses.

The unidentified man was located at a residence on the 1200 block of Morrrow Road around 10:00 p.m. Monday night. Police administered Naloxone through the man’s nose, which antagonized the opiate.

Police say they tool is invaluable as police are often times the first responders to a medical call.

Police say the man was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive.

Each patrol vehicle in the MPD fleet carries Naloxone as of January 7, 2015
