New Brew Pub in Downtown Medford

Medford, Ore — A boost to the Rogue Valley economy as a new brewery sets it’s sights on downtown Medford.

The Monarch building has been vacant for a while, but now the iconic structure across the street from the Lithia Commons is being renovated as a brewpub with a focus on all things local.

Opening the front doors to his future brewpub, Alex Amarotico has big dreams for downtown Medford.

“The challenge of turning an old building that was made for something else into a new facility like a restaurant has always excited me,” said Amarotico.

Amarotico and his wife Danielle are renovating the historic Monarch building on 5th street across from Lithia’s headquarters. Turning it into the new Common Block Microbrewery in the heart of a revitalized downtown Medford.

The plan is to have 280 to 300 seats available for the brewpub and Amarotico says this is as good at time as any to start work on Common Block Brewing.

“By doing this we can keep that momentum going into more new restaurants, more new businesses,” said Amarotico.

Most importantly, from the beer to the beef Amarotico says he plans to keep things local.

“Definitely a local focus. Local wineries, we’ll have their wines, as much local food as we can possibly have,” said Amarotico.

Amarotico says they’re looking to open in the fall. He and his wife are no strangers to the local restaurant business, they’re part owners of Standing Stone Brewing Company in Ashland.
