Officials investigating fatal wrong way driver accident on I-5 near Rice Hill

Updated 12/29 2:53pm) Officials have released the names of those involved in the fatal crash. Officials say the passenger in a car going the wrong way on I-5 near Rice Hill was 35-year-old Deanna Teaven from Drain. Teaven was pronounced dead that the scene. The driver, 39-year-old Charles Jones, also from Drain, was taken to the hospital for with serious injuries.


Ore. — Police are investigating a fatal crash involving an SUV and a semi-truck on I-5 just north of Rice Hill early Tuesday morning.

Oregon State Police say a 2016 Honda SUV was travelling south in a northbound lane on I-5 when it struck the truck head-on.

The 35-year-old passenger in the Honda was pronounced dead on scene and the 39-year-old driver was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

The truck driver was not injured. One lane was closed for 6 hours. OSP says alcohol may have been a contributing factor in the crash.
