One killed in fatal crash, police say alcohol involved

Update (07/05 5:20 p.m.) — Police have identified the man who died after a rollover crash outside of Prospect as 54-year-old Eagle Point resident Richard Kelvin Johnson.


Prospect, Ore. — A man is dead after police say he crashed his car into a tree outside of Prospect Friday night.

Around 7 PM, Jackson County Sheriff’s deputies say the man was reported to be intoxicated at a bar in town. Multiple witnesses told authorities he was trying to start fights, and attempted to run people over as he was leaving.

Police say they also received reports of the man driving erratically on Highway 62. A short time later, police say the man crashed into a tree and rolled the car on the 2000 block of Mill Creek Drive.

He was pronounced deceased on scene. His name has not yet been released.
