Medford, Ore.– For more than six decades, Southern Oregon has celebrated spring with the Pear Blossom Festival
“It’s a tradition for me to come here every year, come see the vendors, come see all the people,” said Adam McCleary.
A tradition for many, but for some it’s a first.
“Came to check out the music, the food, the booths. Yeah… we’re just walking around, hanging out enjoying the beautiful weather,” said Allie Brill.
The Pear Blossom Festival is one of Medford’s biggest weekends of the year. It kicked off Fridayat the commons in downtown and this year taking up both park blocks.
The festival began as a celebration for the Fruit Growers League back in 1954and has grown to a street fair with 137 vendors and 12,000 visitors from near and far.
Saturday morning thousands will gear up for the annual Pear Blossom Run and then enjoy the most anticipated event, the Pear Blossom Parade.
“In 61 year It’s grown to motorized vehicles we have go karts. We have kids with marching bands. I mean we have car clubs you name it we’ve got it,” said Terri Ainsworth, Chairman of the ‘Pear A Fare’.
