Police prepare security measures in the event of a strike

Medford, Ore. — With the threat of a possible teacher strike on Thursday, security plans are being worked out… should they be needed. The Medford Police Department says they met today discussing school security. In the event of a strike, they are also adjusting for additional uniformed patrols to be available.

“We are going to make sure people are safe on all sides, because we are the referees of the world. We don’t pick sides,” says Medford Police Chief Tim George.

The Medford School District discussed school property boundaries where striking staff would not be allowed. At this point, police say the Medford School District has not requested extreme measures.

Two years ago, students in Eagle Point say the high school brought in metal detectors during their teacher strike.
