Rain brings hope to Southern Oregonians

Medford, Ore.– This weeks rain is looking promising for Southern Oregon. TheNational Weather service said if it continues into next week, the drought could go from severe to moderate.

Applegate Lake’s water level is now up 16 feet.Asigh of relief for Wayne Hamlin who lives nearby. He saidin the seven yearshe’s lived by Applegate Lake he’s never had a bare garden.

“It’s impossible for me to irrigate out of the river there’s just isn’t enough water.”

Applegate resident, Fred Hall is also worried about the lack of rain. He saidthe drought is taking a toll on on his farm too.

“We normally irrigate 24/7 all summer and I’m not going to be able to do that this summer.”

But the turn in the forecast has Hamlin and Hall hopeful,praying for more moisture.

The Weather service said what we really need now issnow pack. They said it’s only about a quarter what it should be.
