Rape charges against Oregon Shakespeare Festival actor dropped

Ashland, Ore. –The Jackson County District Attorneys office has dropped rape charges against an Oregon Shakespeare Festival actor.

Veteran OSF actor Tyrone Wilson was charged in February with sexual abuse and sodomy.

Court records obtained by NBC5 news today show the DAs office dropped the case because Deputy District Attorney David Hoppe called it ‘untenable’ or difficult to prove in court.

Ashland police say in November of last year Wilson and had a consensual sexual relationship with an unidentified woman, which at one point turned into an unwanted act.

Wilson’s attorney released a statement today saying the actor’s faith in the legal system is reaffirmed.

Deputy District Attorney Hoppe did not return calls seeking comment.
