Richardson requests investigation into Gov. Kitzhaber & first lady

Portland, Ore. — Dennis Richardson, the republican gubernatorial candidate for Oregon, is calling for a federal investigation into incumbent Governor John Kitzhaber’s conduct.

It all stems from allegations that Kitzhaber’s fiance is abusing her title for personal gain.

Richardson and his attorneys are sent a 13-page letter to Oregon US attorney Amanda Marshall Thursday.

The letter says the governor and first lady Cylvia Hayes abused their official roles for private financial gain and in doing so intentionally schemed to defraud Oregonian’s.

Richardson says not only is the first lady using her political position for financial gain but the governor knew about it.

Richardson has previously called for an independent investigation and on Monday in southern Oregon’s only gubernatorial debate on KOBI-TV NBC5, he showed how serious he was in pursuing these allegations.

“Now we are dealing with his finance who sees nothing wrong taking, or almost tripling her income in one year by taking money from companies that want to buy influence with the governor and with the government. That’s wrong, that is corrupt,” Richardson said.

Lawyers for the Richardson campaign say they don’t believe that the US attorney’s office will be able to take any action before the election.

Meanwhile, Governor Kitzhaber’s communications directortold Portland TV stations that Richardson is “wasting the us attorneys time and taxpayer dollars with an obvious political stunt.
