Serial arsonists strikes again

Medford, Ore. — After a quiet few days investigators believe the serial arsonist is back in action.

Medford Fire Investigator Chase Browning said three fires broke out around 6:15 Saturday morning. Two of them were grass fires in the alleyway behind 12th and Franquette St. and did little damage. The third was set behind CK Enterprises on 13th and S. Central St. It burned a power pole and wooden bins and threatened a nearby warehouse.

“It’s impossible to say what could have happened but all of that heat from that fire could have picked up that warehouse soon if it would have had a few more minutes to burn,” Browning said.

These fires brings the total to 17 intentionally set fires since late June, leaving investigators with their hands full.

“It’s frustrating,” Browning said. “It takes us away from the other responsibilities we have for the public but it’s what we’re here for.”
