Seventh case of meningococcal disease linked to UO outbreak

Eugene, Ore. — Oregon Public Health officials are confirming a seventh case of meningococcal disease.

They say a 52-year-old man who visited his daughter at University of Oregon at the beginning of May contracted the disease.

The man’s close contacts are receiving preventative treatment.

Officials say just visiting the University of Oregon campus doesn’t pose any risk, but are encouraging all University of Oregon students to get vaccinated right away.
