Sherm’s Thunderbird Donates Truckload Of Food

Sherm’s Thunderbird made a special delivery to the Klamath / Lake Counties Food Bank this morning…

Thunderbird Market Founder Sherm Olsrud says donating a truck load of food to the food bank is his way of giving back to the community…

“I think it’s the need. The people have been good to us, sometimes it’s good to share.”

This is the twelfth year that Sherm’s has made a special delivery to the food bank.

Steve Olsrud notes that a semi can hold a lot of food…

“Our driver estimated between 30 and 32 thousand pounds.”

Director Niki Sampson says the donation helps the food bank to recover from heavy holiday demand…

“And what Sherm and Steve Olsrud do is they bring us those items that kind of fill the gaps for what we didn’t get a lot of.”

Sherm’s has also made truckload donations to food banks in Medford and Roseburg.

“Klamath Falls is kind of dear to us.” Notes Sherm Olsrud. “And we don’t live here, but we almost feel we’re part of the community.”

And Sampson is thankful for the help…

“I love them both, Sherm and Steve!”

Niki Sampson says the food bank provided over 485 thousand meals last year, helping one out of every four households in Klamath and Lake counties.
