Siskiyou County Sheriff Department search for missing man

Siskiyou County, Calif. — The Siskyou County Sheriff Department posted the following information on their Facebook page:

On Wednesday, September 10, 2014, Siskiyou County Sheriffs Office (SCSO) received information regarding a missing and possibly endangered male adult, Paul Merrill, 87 years-old, of Belmont, CA.

Merrill was reported missing by his family when he failed to return from a trip to McCloud, CA. He was last seen at the McCloud Chevron Station on Thursday, September 4, 2014. A witness stated Mr. Merrill left the Chevron Station, traveling in the direction of Fowlers Campground and Cattle Camp off of State Route 89 near McCloud.

Merrill was last seen wearing a cream-colored long-sleeved shirt with embroidery on the front, khaki pants and brown shoes. Merrill was driving a Silver 1956 Mercedes, 190 SL convertible automobile, license plate # EZX295 CA. The vehicle has a removable hardtop which was left at his residence in Belmont, CA.

The Siskiyou County Search and Rescue (SAR), California Highway Patrol (CHP), Shasta-Trinity National Forest, Modoc National Forest, and Lava Beds National Monument Park Ranger personnel have responded to the area and deployed search teams in the Fowlers Campground.
