Nunda, N.Y. — (WHEC) A New York school music teacher and her boyfriend are facing charges after state police say they were stealing musical instruments and selling them at pawn shops.
Thirty-year-old Danielle Conner-Willowglade is charged with grand larceny in Livingston County and criminal possession of stolen property and criminal possession of a controlled substance in Monroe County.
Conner-Willowglade is a music teacher at the Keshequa Elementary and Middle/High Schools. Police say she was stealing musical instruments from the schools and taking them to pawn shops in Monroe County for cash. Police say she admitted to taking up to 50 instruments from the school to get cash for her addiction to heroin.
Her boyfriend, 32-year-old Nicholas Bump, is also facing charges. He is charged with criminal possession of stolen property and criminal possession of a controlled substance. Police say Bump would accompany Conner-Willowgrade to the pawn shops and the two would take turns taking the instruments into the pawn shops.
Police say their investigation started when a trooper noticed a tuba in the back seat of Conner-Willowgrades vehicle during a traffic stop. Investigators say she told them she was a music teacher and was headed to Rochester with the tuba in her car.
The Keshequa School District was contacted and immediately assisted in checking their inventory while police checked local pawn shops. The police have recovered 12 instruments and 1 desktop from local pawn shops.
