Southern Oregon Has Issue With Elderly Abuse

Reports show Southern Oregon has a problem with people financially abusing the elderly. That’s according to a new study by Oregon’s Department of Human Services Office.

In the study, Jackson and Josephine counties were lumped together and theregion showed the second highest level of abuse in the state, just behind Multnomah County.

The most common forms of abuse were theft of money and medications. Medford police seargent Brent Mak said the large elderly population here makes them an easy target. He also said the majority of abuse comes from family members.
