Medford City Council Approves Additional Fees

After raising utility fees to fund the 32 million dollar police and fire project the city council says…it needs more money

The council approved raising rental car fees to pay for a six million dollar expansion at U.S. Cellular Park. The council also approved borrowing 3 million dollars from funds alotted to risk management, sewer, and storm drains; all without voter approval.

The citiy’s finance director Alison Chan says that she discovered, in retrospect, that if the city pays and extra$600,000 a year for the first five years of the bond, they will get a lower interest rate.

In order to do that the city will have to borrow from funds delegated other essential services.
