Suspect Sought In Attempted Abduction

Police in Klamath Falls are stepping up efforts today to find a suspect who tried to abduct a 27 year old woman…

Police are releasing pictures of a white van they say belongs to a man who tried to abduct a 27 year old woman last week.

Detective Nick Kennedy of the Klamath County Sheriff’s Office offered a narrative of the incident: “He gets out and grabs her arm, tries to pull her into the van – she takes a swing at him and breaks free.”

The woman was then able to get away, and call for help.

Police say the attempted abduction took place on the morning of Friday, November 15th at about 10:30 in a parking lot near Homedale and South Sixth Street.

Kennedy notes that surveillance cameras at a nearby gas station captured pictures of a white, extended-cab van matching a description given by the victim…

“I believe it’s a Ford van, of early 90’s, maybe late 80’s – that group.”

Detective Kennedy notes the victim stated that the suspect was of medium height, and medium build…

“We are looking for a white male with fairly dark hair, a full goatee. She described him as being in the mid-thirties.”

Kennedy adds that the victim was quite shaken after the incident…

“By the time she got to a safe place, the total potential of the incident had sunk in to the point that she was rattled pretty good by the time she called us.”

The detective is hoping the photos will trigger more tips from witnesses…

“This is a high priority for us.”
