Teacher put on administrative leave wants to know why

Montague, Cali. — A teacher at a Northern California school put on paid administrative leave last week wants to know why.

Dawn Applegate is a teacher at Delphic Elementary School in Montague.

She says administrators asked her to leave after an incident involving a student.

She says the child was having a quote “off day” and asked the principal for help removing the student from the situation.

She claims she did nothing wrong and as of Monday she’s asking the school board to let her back in the classroom.

“My heart is breaking I want to be with them and I want to be teaching. This isn’t my job, it’s my passion. It’s my life’s calling and I’m being prevented from doing that.” said Applegate.

School personnel declined to comment Monday, citing the on-going investigation.
