Two more suspects arrested in connection with weekend carjacking

1103-king-taylor-sernaMedford, Ore. – Two additional suspects have been charged in connection with an armed carjacking that took place in Medford on the night of Saturday, October 30th.

Medford Police said 21-year-old Jorge Serna responded to a man who was trying to sell his Mercedes on Craigslist. Serna met the owner in the 2000 block of Howard Avenue. He expressed interest in the car, but said he wanted it checked out by a mechanic first.

Police said he and the owner’s father then drove the Mercedes to the 3000 block of Edgewater Drive. The Mercedes was followed by the owner in another car. When the Mercedes was parked, police say Serna brought out a gun and told the owner’s father to get out of the car, and drove away.

Two men, identified by police as Steven Marcus King and James Robert Taylor, allegedly distracted the car owner while Serna took the Mercedes from the owner’s father at gunpoint.

Medford Police found the stolen car and Serna 20 minutes later driving on I-5 south near the Phoenix interchange.

Taylor and King were arrested on November 2nd in Medford.

All three suspects are now in the Jackson County Jail charged with robbery, theft, and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
