Two Murders in Two Weeks

Two unsolved murders over the past two weeks have many on edge in Klamath County.

42 year old Randal Gallagher was found shot to death on the 14th of this month…A simple memorial has been built where his body was found.

The shooting has April Hornbeck nervous…

“I’m a little more cautious now. I was out of state when it happened, and my kids were at my home – and being neighborhood residents, it’s a little nerve-wracking as a parent.”

Prosecutors believe Gallagher’s murder was not a random act of violence.

“I can’t go into a lot of detail.” Notes Klamath County Deputy District Attorney Michael Swanson. “However, this investigation is focused and we are comfortable saying the public at large is not at risk.”

No suspect has been identified.

Then, last Monday night, 32 year old David Costa was found shot to death at this home in the Agency Lake area near Chiloquin.

While there may be two killers on the loose, Pat Holman still has a daily routine…

“Pretty much in the daylight hours. And I’m not going to wander around in the dark at night around here, or anywhere else.”

Kennon Hornbeck of Klamath Falls says he feels safe…

“Yeah, I think I do. Because, we got guns…so…I feel pretty safe.”

Police are asking for any tips the public may have on either of the murders.

Both murders are being investigated by the Klamath County Major Crime Team.

That team is composed of city, county, and state law enforcement agencies, community corrections, and the district attorney’s office.
