Two People Shot Sunday Night in Klamath Falls

Two people were shot late at night at a Klamath Falls apartment…it was a terrifying scene for one witness who is also hoping for answers tonight.

J.D. Lamb and her kids heard the shots just before 10:30 Sunday night…

“I saw a gentleman fall to the ground as soon as I opened my back door, he was shot in the head. And I called 911 right away, and then my next door neighbor was shot in the face.”

Kathy Hewitt was up late preparing taxes…

“I’m not sure when exactly, I just heard two gunshots.”

The shooting took place at an apartment complex on Washburn Way and Pear Street.

Investigators haven’t released the names of the victims, and J.D. has only their first names…

“As far as I know, the gentleman’s name was Terry, and the lady’s name was Vanessa.”

Detectives were combing the scene for evidence through the night, and into the morning.

The shooting triggered activation of the Klamath County Major Crime Team.

Activation of the Klamath County Major Crime Team means that all information must go through the Klamath County District Attorney’s office. Since Klamath County is currently without a D.A., all information must go through the Oregon Attorney General’s Office. And the A.G.’s office is releasing no details about the shooting.

Without those details, we can’t give you patient condition, or any possible suspect information…but we can tell you that J.D. Lamb is still shaken over what she saw…

“I could have easily just walked outside, and that could have been me, you know.”

One of the gunshot victims was airlifted to St. Charles Hospital in Bend, while the other was taken to Sky Lakes Medical Center.

Jeff Manning of the Oregon Attorney General’s Office has confirmed that a 28 year old male, and a 36 year old female were shot.

Manning adds that police are looking for a suspect or suspects, but gave no details.
