The clock is ticking for Cover Oregon applications for health insurance under the Affordable Care Act known to most as “Obama Care.”
“People need to send in an application postmarked by December 4th,” says Ariane Holm spokesperson for Cover Oregon.
December 4th is the deadline for mailing in or submitting electronic applications. Many people resorted to paper applications because Cover Oregon’s website hasn’t been working and people can’t log on to the portal.
“Watching everything on TV is really confusing so we thought we’d get the ball rolling we didn’t realize it was going to be so easy,” says Ron Havice.
Erlene and Ron Havice were two of 225 people that got help in filling out a paper application with Cover Oregon employees at the Medford Ramada Inn.
“We have community partners and agents from allover the Medford area helping people navigate the application process and helping them answer questions and really letting them know what the next steps are in order for them to get fully enrolled in a plan through Cover Oregon,” says Holm.
Holm says Cover Oregon’s online portal should be up and running starting December 16th. Meaning you’ll finally be able to enroll online.
“It’s nice that everybody gets a chance to get health coverage now not just a few,” says Havice.
The Havice’s say they’re thankful for the coverage they’ll be getting.
“I thought it was really good experience int here everyone was so pleasant in there and it feels good knowing that we possibly have really good coverage coming our way and it’ll make us both feel better.”
