Two-wheeled talk show hits Southern Oregon streets

Medford, Ore. — It’s not your typical talk show. The Pedal Powered Talk Show comes to you from two bicycle wheels.

The Portland based talk show is not only turning heads, but it’s gaining national attention. The desk is built into a cargo bicycle and the crew rides all over the state to tell people’s stories.

One of the creators of The Pedal Powered Talk Show and the show’s host, Boaz Frankel, said the more the crew gets out the more popular the show becomes.

“I think when people see us riding down the street they’re always curious. It sort of looks like a boat on wheels or some strange contraption so people are always interested to learn more about it,” he said.

This weekend he and his crew ventured to Southern Oregon to begin filming their fourth season.

The crew visited the chickens at Dancin’ Vineyards, met cheetahs and porcupines at Wildlife Safari, rode the rails at the Medford Railroad Park, and took a trip down the Rogue River.

“We can load all our gear in here (the desk), ride to our location, and shoot an episode of the show,” Boaz said.

Todd Saucier usually does audio for the show, but he filled in this weekend for the person who usually pedals the bike. He said even with the extra weight the bike isn’t hard to maneuver.

“I’ve never ridden a bike with a desk on it before so it was a little tough to get on it, but once you get the hang of it it glides beautifully,” Saucier said.
